This session will highlight the harm that arises when well-intentioned systems are disconnected with lived experience. It will explore how to apply theoretical knowledge to drive actionable change. It will address the need to include community voices in the narrative of child welfare and explore the harm caused by a model driven by risk aversion versus one that includes the narrative of key stakeholders. It highlights the significance of kinship; the need for an anti-oppressive approach to child welfare in Ontario, and shares with leaders a model of EDIA work that is sustainable and strategic so as to bring about systemic and cultural change.
