As a clinical social worker and psychotherapist, Jaleesa Allen ’18 doesn’t take lightly the trust her young clients place in her. Working in a Greater Toronto Area hospital with children and adolescents, she sees her role not only as a source of support, but as a witness and advocate.

In 2024, Jaleesa received the Young Leader Alumni Award, recognizing her compassionate leadership and efforts to advance social justice for young people from marginalized and vulnerable communities. A mature student who returned to school after time away, she credits Trent for giving her the confidence to pursue graduate education and a career rooted in care and advocacy.

Watch Jaleesa’s full interview to hear how her journey has been shaped by resilience, reflection, and community.
